Leather craft – Making a leather belt by John Neeman Tools

Here’s a very nicely edited video from John Neeman Tools showing how their craftsman, Stephen, produces one of their hand-made leather belts.  I encourage you to check out their website to learn more about them.  They are a small group of skilled craftsmen from Latvia and they produce (according to their website) kitchen tools, leather belts, knives, axes, timber framing tools, drawknives, froes and bows.

My Original Compressor

Sears-Craftsman-CompressorWhen I first started making holsters, I quickly realized the only way this knuckle dragger would get consistent dye jobs would be with the use of an airbrush.  I didn’t own a compressor, so I marched myself down to Sears and purchased one of their small, 3 gallon portable compressors (model #15310) for around $120 (with accessories) at the time.  It worked fine – it did the jobs I asked of it for a few years…  Until I remembered you have to add oil to it (actually, I was force-ably reminded of it)!  Yep, it suddenly seized up.  Oops!  Honestly, I’d been wanting a new compressor anyway because the 15310 was extremely loud, like most portable compressors.  I do most of my airbrushing at night, so having an obnoxiously loud compressor roaring along at night probably isn’t the best idea.
